Victim identified in Irving Avenue shooting in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) -

The Charleston County Coroner has identified the victim from a shooting that happened early Saturday morning on Irving Avenue as 17-year-old Traquan Singleton of North Charleston. 

According to North Charleston police, officers responded to Irving Avenue around 3 a.m. Saturday morning.

A police officer found an 18-year-old male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, inside the home. The victim said he had been shot in the back.

A second victim, later identified as Singleton, was found upstairs. Singleton was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other victim was transported to MUSC in critical condition, officials say.

According to initial witness reports, the two victims had been inside the residence at the time a loud noise was heard at the front door.

After sounds of gunfire, the two victims were found wounded, authorities say. 

Neither a motive nor suspect information have been reported.

The incident is currently being investigated.
