Ladson man wanted for murder surrenders to Dorchester Co. detectives

DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A 31-year-old Ladson man wanted for a murder has surrendered to detectives.

Officials with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office say Damon Tremaine Alston turned himself over on Monday at 2:30 p.m.

He is expected to have a bond hearing on Tuesday.

Alston was wanted for the shooting death of 21-year-old Benjamin Wagner that happened on Monday, July 20.

According to authorities, the incident happened in the area of Benedict Avenue off of Ashley Phosphate Road.

Wagner was shot after 8 p.m.

The coroner says the victim died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
