Police: Woman charged with grand larceny of a motor vehicle

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - According to the Charleston Police, Deserae Davis has been charged with grand larceny of a motor vehicle in connection to a theft on July 3.

The incident took place on Hut Road near River Road, Johns Island.

According to an affidavit, Davis stole a green 1995 Mercedes E300 valued at approximately $3,000.

Officials say the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force responded in reference to the incident to Maybank Highway on July 3 where Davis was staying at an apartment.

A report states deputies knocked on Davis' door, and after several minutes she came to the door and immediately surrendered to authorities.

Davis was searched, restrained, transported, and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Davis was wanted by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office for three outstanding arrest warrants, authorities say.

The affidavit states the victim identified Davis as his former girlfriend, and they had previously lived together.

A report states Davis held a knife to the victim's neck, and demanded $50. The victim reportedly gave Davis the money out of fear that she would cut him with the knife.

Authorities say when the victim attempted to call 911, Davis seized the phone and threw it from the vehicle.

After victim ran from the vehicle in search of help, Davis reportedly stole the vehicle and left the area.
