MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 19-year-old in connection with a shooting in Moncks Corner that left three people wounded Friday night.
Jamez Deondre Kelly of North Charleston was positively identified by two of the three victims, Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis said.
"I am thankful for the tireless work of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office detectives and the Marshals Task Force in making this apprehension," Lewis said.
He is being charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime and one count of criminal conspiracy, according to Berkeley County Sheriff's spokesman Michael Mulè.
The shooting happened following a birthday party on Mitton Road in Moncks Corner, according to deputies.
Investigators say after the party ended, people were walking down Nelson Ferry Road when passengers in a car opened fire.
Three were wounded and two of them were children, deputies say. Two of those victims were airlifted to MUSC for treatment, but all three are expected to recover.
"Along with the U.S. Marshalls and the North Charleston Police Department, we had a true team effort - working around the clock since Saturday to put this alleged dangerous criminal behind bars very quickly," Lewis said. "We hope to announce additional arrests in this case soon."
