Family displaced by kitchen fire receives Red Cross aid

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -
The American Red Cross assisted a family displaced by a kitchen fire in their home on Saturday morning.
Charleston Fire Department officials confirmed units responded to Secessionville Road on James Island around 12:45 a.m. Saturday morning in response to the fire in the single family home.
The fire was extinguished.
One patient was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation, officials say.
According to American Red Cross representatives, the Red Cross provided financial assistance for food, clothing, and temporary housing, in addition to comfort kits containing personal hygiene items, and referrals to partner organizations to assist the family with long-term recovery.
