CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC - Charleston County First Steps is now accepting applications for its new Early Head Start (EHS) program. Parents who have children up to 30-months-old can apply to receive services for the 2015-2016 school year.
Program organizers say families must meet the federal low income guidelines and preferably receive ABC child care vouchers. Children
may also qualify if they have been diagnosed with a disability or receive special services.
EHS offers a full-day program, focused on literacy, with a research-based curriculum. Parents receive on-going assessments to monitor their children's progress. There is also support for parental education and employment.
Program organizers say parents need to bring the following documentation to apply:
*Proof of income (W-2/1040 for 2014) or 12 months of income statements
*South Carolina Immunization Certificate
*Health insurance information
*Proof of disability (IFSP/Progress notes)
*ABC Voucher letter of approval
