LEXINGTON, SC (AP) - Police had to close part of U.S. Highway 378 in Lexington after a truck spilled chicken parts over the major road.
Authorities said a pink trail of chicken parts was left behind by the truck Monday morning. Lexington Police closed the westbound lanes of the highway leading into Columbia for about four hours so the mess could be cleaned up.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation estimates more than 30,000 vehicles travel the section of highway in both directions on an average day.
Police didn't release any information about the driver of the truck carrying the chicken parts, or how it might have lost part of its load.
There is a chicken plant on U.S. 378 about 10 miles west of where the spill happened.
