CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A 3-year-old boy who was injured in a fatal accident in Adams Run on Monday died of his injuries.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office says D'Angelo Moore died on Tuesday at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Moore was the second person who died from the accident.
Paralee Smalls, 79, of Hollywood, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say a Cadillac Deville in which Smalls was a passenger was attempting to go straight across US 17 from Parkers Ferry Road shortly after 5 p.m. on Monday, and had already crossed into the northbound lanes and was waiting in the median for southbound traffic to clear, according to Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Eric Watson.
A box truck approached U.S. 17 southbound and passed the intersection, followed by a white Ford Focus, according to traffic investigators. As the Ford approached, deputies say the Cadillac began to cross U.S. 17 for unknown reasons resulting in the crash.
The impact caused the Cadillac to spin across the remaining Southbound lanes where it crashed into a GMC pickup truck that had stopped, Watson said.
The other two passengers of the Cadillac, the driver and a child who was in the back seat, were transported to MUSC, Watson said.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office Traffic Division is investigating the accident. A traffic report released on Wednesday lists the driver of the Cadillac to be at fault.
