NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police arrested the suspect in a July 17 shooting at a home in North Charleston Tuesday.

Investigators learned Jermaine Eric Young, who faces charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, was in a home in the 1,900 block of Calvert Street, according to North Charleston Police spokesman Spencer Pryor.

North Charleston Police and SWAT team members responded to the home shortly before 4 p.m.

After police called out for Young to surrender, he exited the home and was taken into custody without incident, Pryor said.

Young was wanted in connection with a fatal shooting shortly before 1 a.m. on July 17 at an apartment on N. Murray Avenue.

Police found the victim, 30-year-old Tyric Grant, who had been shot several times and died from his injuries.

Young was positively identified by a witness on the scene as the shooter, Pryor said.
