According to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, Robert Maittand Rumph, 50, was taken into custody after deputies responded to reports of possible shots fired at a residence on Pompano Drive in the Garden City Community of Georgetown.

Officials say the suspect's wife explained an altercation had taken place between the suspect and their teenage son. According to a report, the suspect took a handgun during the dispute and fired into the residence.

Authorities say four minors were inside the residence at the time of the incident.

Rumph has been charged with one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, two counts of assault and battery first degree, three counts of kidnapping, one count of discharging firearms into a dwelling, and four counts of unlawful conduct towards a child.
