NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - The National Action Network announced the closing of a fundraiser for a 5-year-old shooting victim and a new campaign to get guns off the streets.
Elder James Johnson said approximately $29,000 has been raised for Tyreik Gadsden, a 5-year-old boy shot and paralyzed in downtown Charleston. Johnson said the benefit fund is being closed as the group has other issues they need to focus on, and hopes the community will step up and add to the fund.
Johnson also announced a new statewide campaign to get guns off of the street which may include gun buy-back events.
He also addressed what he believes to be racial profiling during traffic stops in North Charleston.
