MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) - Entrepreneurs from a Mount Pleasant company are attending the first White House Demo Day.
Sam Staley and Mindy Taylor of Bidr are attending Tuesday's event hosted by President Barack Obama. The event brings together entrepreneurs from across the country to showcase their products and bring attention to the need to encourage entrepreneurs.
Bidr developed a software application that helps nonprofits more easily raise funds, hold raffles, sell tickets and conduct silent auctions.
It allows those organizing events to add auction or raffle items, confirm payments and text auction participants when they have been outbid. It was recently used to help Charleston raise money for the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund after the fatal shootings of nine parishioners at the black church.
