Downtown Charleston man charged with sexual exploitation of a minor

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

A downtown Charleston man has been charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrested 31-year-old Thomas Elliott Aspinwall.

According to authorities, an investigation showed Aspinwall had received a photo of the victim in a "state of sexually explicit nudity."

Court records state the victim appeared to be between 12 and 14 years old.

Authorities say the photo was sent on April 28 and was accompanied by a text that stated,"He wants a threesome."

CCSO investigators say Aspinwall asked,"How old? When?" to which the sender replied,"14 and tomorrow."

At one point, authorities reported that Aspinwall requested to "show me more."

Court records state the sender sent Aspinwall five separate text messages with each containing a sexually explicit photo of the victim.
