SC law enforcement conference to discuss gangs, security threat groups

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

The South Carolina Department of Corrections and law enforcement officials throughout the state will gather at the 2015 Annual Gang Conference next week.

Their purpose is to discuss the effectiveness of identifying and documenting violent street gangs and prison security threat groups.

The conference will last for three days, with an event open to the public on Monday.

The public event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Roquemore Auditorium of the Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College campus at 3250 St. Matthews Road in Orangeburg.

The conference is expected to include a panel discussion with law enforcement officials about issues prominent in the community.

Present at the event will be agency director, sheriffs, police chiefs, and FBI agents.

The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety also plans to provide information about the relationship between law enforcement and the media.
