Police arrested a man after a child was taken to MUSC with suspicious injuries.
Authorities say Sean Palmer was booked on July 29 and charged with unlawful conduct towards a child. He was released the same day on $50,000 bond.
An incident report says a child was taken to the hospital injuries that were inconsistent with the story the suspect provided. Palmer told a doctor he was at home watching the child in the living room when he went to the kitchen to get something to eat.
The report says he told doctors he heard a falling noise and returned to the living room to find the child laying face-down on the floor with limp arms and legs. It says he then tried to feed her to calm her down. Once he was able to calm her down, he took her upstairs to her crib. The report says she slept for 15 minutes.
He woke a woman living in the home and told her that the child's arms were limp. They took her to Trident Medical Center for treatment. The child was then transferred to MUSC.
The Department of Social Services and Detectives has taken the child into emergency protective custody while they investigate the incident.
