CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department says a 29-year-old North Charleston man accused of smashing a woman's head into concrete is now in custody.
CPD officials announced Tuesday afternoon that officers have arrested Nicholas Vontez Myers wanted for a Friday night incident in the area of Allway Street and Flood Street. Police say Myers assaulted his child's mother by smashing her head into concrete and also impeding the victim's ability to breathe.
According to CPD officials, Myers has a prior conviction for domestic violence against the same victim from April 2015.
"Myers has a criminal history consisting of various narcotics offenses, trespassing, probation violations, as well as resisting arrest," CPD officials said.
According to police, the victim said Myers often carries a large switch blade style knife in his pocket.
Investigators said Myers has an active bench warrant for failure to appear in addition to an arrest warrant for first-degree domestic violence.
