ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) is searching for an armed man who witnesses report fired into a club crowd early Saturday, killing one man and injuring several others.

According to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, the shooting occurred shortly after 4 a.m. after a fight at a Bamberg Highway nightclub.

"Our investigators have determined a subject was involved in an altercation in the parking lot of Pit Stop Pub," Ravenell stated. "We have a person of interest who we are looking for at this time. Once we obtain more information, we will release it to the media."

Hospital staff notified OCSO deputies around 4:15 a.m. that several individuals had entered the medical facility to be treated for gunshot wounds, authorities say.

Investigators say they were led to the Pit Stop Pub located about two miles south of Orangeburg, where they located a 36-year-old man on the ground in the parking lot.

The man was declared dead at the scene, OCSO officials say.

Witnesses reported a man who had been in an earlier fight drove off, firing random shots into a crowd.

Three additional people were reported with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening, according to OCSO officials.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the OCSO at (803) 534-3550 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
