CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

One person is dead after a shooting at a Kangaroo Gas Station in Ravenel Sunday morning.

The Charleston County Coroner reported Richard Butler, 24, of Hollywood died at 5:27 a.m. at MUSC from a gunshot wound

Charleston County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a shooting just after 2 a.m. at the Kangaroo station located at 6303 Savannah Highway in Ravenel. An employee of the gas station told investigators there had been a large crowd at the gas station when she heard the shots, but that the crowd then dispersed quickly, according to an incident report.

The individuals responsible for the shooting were no longer at the scene, officials say.

After processing the scene and collecting several shell casings, police learned Butler had arrived at the hospital and had possibly been wounded at the gas station.Shortly after the incident, a victim with gunshot wounds arrived at Roper St. Francis Hospital.

A witness who drove Butler to the hospital told deputies he was at the scene of the shooting, saw Butler running in the parking lot, and then saw him collapse. The witness picked him up, saw that he had been shot, and drove him to the hospital, the report states. The witness said he did not see anyone else and didn't know what happened.

Also at the hospital, Butler's sister said she had been at a club and went to the gas station after that, the report states. According to deputies, she said she saw her brother run and then fall to the ground and left the area, but never saw what happened and did not know where he had been before ending up at the gas station.

Butler was transported to MUSC where he later died, authorities say.

Detectives have not yet identified any suspects.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the case.
