CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The center of Tropical Storm Danny is continuing to move west but has slowed a bit, according to the latest update from the National Hurricane Center.
At 10 a.m. Wednesday, Danny's center was located near latitude 11.2 North, longitude 41.1 West, approximately 1385 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.
Danny is moving toward the west near 12 mph, but the system is expected to make a slight turn to toward a west-northwestward direction at a slightly slower forward speed over the next 48 hours.
Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Danny could become a hurricane by Friday.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the center.
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
