PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Students in Georgetown County headed back to school Thursday morning to start their 2015-2016 school year.
The district earned an excellent rating on the state report card last year, for the third consecutive year. The goal is to keep that going as the 2015-2016 school year begins.
There are 9,700 students in the school district, with 21 schools.
There are varied bell schedules, depending on the school. School officials urge parents and students to check with their respective school to find what time the bell rings.
At Waccamaw Elementary School, where school started at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:35 p.m., the message from the principal and other school officials stressed was "Arrive early!" They say you never know what to expect with school lines and bus routes.
