ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office has obtained a warrant for the individual believed to be responsible for firing shots into a crowded nightclub parking lot on August 16, killing one and wounding others.
Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell states investigators are seeking Nazdric Gates, 30, of Mt. Airy on warrants charging him with the murder of a club goer at Pit Stop Pub.
Gates is described as a black male standing about 5' 8" tall, and weighing about 185 pounds. He reportedly had short dreadlocks on the night of the shooting.
According to Ravenell, the shooting occurred shortly after 4 a.m. after a fight at the nightclub on Bamberg Road.
Authorities cite witness reports saying Gates fled the nightclub in a tan Saturn vehicle with tinted windows, pointing a gun out of the car's window and firing multiple rounds, injuring three.
They were treated at the hospital for what were believed to be non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
The fourth victim was pronounced dead at the scene, officials say.
Investigators have obtained warrants against Gates for murder, three counts of attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
"Mr. Gates was identified through an exhaustive and non-stop investigation that was begun shortly after the fatal and tragic shooting," the sheriff said. "We're asking anyone with information on Gates' whereabouts to contact us immediately. He is to be considered armed and dangerous."
Anyone with information on Gates or his location are asked to call the OCSO at (803) 534-3550 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
