GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - High School students at Goose Creek are preparing to take what they learned in the classroom straight to the bank.
Actually, it's a credit union.
Berkeley County Schools and the Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union have collaborated to open a student run credit union on the campus of Goose Creek High School on Redbank Road.
The ribbon cutting for the credit union will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Principal Jimmy Huskey says students and faculty are excited about opening the first student-run high school credit union branch in the Tri-County area.
"It will be extremely convenient for both students and teachers to bank with HTFCU," Huskey said.
The Berkeley County School District says Heritage Trust will donate more than $460,000 during the next five years in time, talent and support.
