WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - A suspected drug dealer is behind bars after police found drugs and cash at a home in West Ashley.
The Charleston Police Department arrested 43-year-old Derrick Jermaine Ancrum of Charleston and charged him with trafficking cocaine, trafficking cocaine base, possession of cocaine base with the intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
Authorities say Ancrum's arrest stems from a two week investigation into narcotic activity at a West Ashley residence.
A police report states the Special Investigation Unit, SWAT team and Team Four officers executed a search at a home on Tripe Street on Thursday.
"The officers confiscated about 274 grams of cocaine, 24 grams of cocaine base and 434 grams of marijuana, numerous items consistent with manufacturing cocaine base and about $4,366 in cash," police officials said.
Ancrum was locked up at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
