NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Coast Guard Sector Charleston will be hosting an active shooter drill on Wednesday, September 2nd.
It will last from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
During that time, there will be multiple rounds of realistic-sounding, simulated gun shots lasting 5 - 7 minutes.
Officials say the simulations are not a cause for alarm.
Law enforcement officials routinely use blanks in their training events.
Charleston law enforcement has been involved in the planning of these exercises and will play the roles of shooter and response team.
Unless you are a registered participant in the drill, you're asked to avoid the Veterans Terminal.
