NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A North Charleston City Council member will resign from his seat, according to a release from the city.
Dwight Stigler, who represents North Charleston Dist. 9, will end his tenure on council on Friday to accept a job outside of the city, according to a post on the North Charleston city website.
"We are now excited to start a new chapter in our family history," Stigler wrote in an email notifying Mayor Keith Summey and his fellow council members in which he called public service "the highest calling."
The seat will remain unfilled until after the general election on Nov. 3, the site states.
