CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Officials say the Charleston County Family Court will be holding a Bench Warrant Reconciliation Day on Sept. 30.
"Working in conjunction with the South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS), the court aims to provide an opportunity for those under a bench warrant to get back on a payment plan and avoid going to jail," county officials say.
According to Charleston County Government officials, the county's family court currently has 15,641 active support cases, and of those cases, there are 2,715 bench warrants currently active.
Interested parties must visit the SC Department of Social Services on 3346 Rivers Ave, Suite E, on Sept. 17 or 18 to reserve a time on the Sept. 30 Family Court docket.
Officials say the public can call DSS at (843) 953-9700 for more information.
