WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Police Department is investigating thefts from ten unlocked vehicles at a West Ashley apartment complex.
The thefts happened on Monday at the Castlewood Apartments on 2145 Royal Castle Lane.
Police say there were no signs of forced entry.
"Officers responded to the apartment complex about 8:30 a.m. after one of the victims found the passenger side door to his vehicle open and someone had rummaged through it," police say.
The victim also reported that he noticed several other vehicles that appeared to have been gone through.
According to police, items taken from the vehicles include money, electronics and a wallet.
"The police department cannot stress enough the importance of always locking your vehicle doors, even if you are parked in your driveway, and never leave anything of value in plain sight," CPD officials said.
