Two men arrested after woman was beaten, car stolen outside of church

HANAHAN, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities have located an SUV that was stolen from woman who was assaulted outside of a Hanahan church.

A lieutenant with the Hanahan Police Department said the SUV was found on Rivers Avenue, near Remount Road, in North Charleston. Two people were arrested, but it is unknown if they are connected to the assault.

The suspects have been identified as Charles Belton and Davon Flythe. Belton has been charged with possessing a stolen vehicle. He met bond at $30,000 and was released. Flythe was charged with possessing a stolen vehicle, and the unlawful carrying of a firearm. His bond adds up to $60,000. 

Hanahan police said a 74-year-old woman was gardening outside of Yeamans Park Presbyterian Saturday morning when she was assaulted by a man.

The victim reported being choked by the suspect until she was almost unconscious. The suspect also stole her SUV.

The victim suffered bruising and a bloody nose and was treated and released, according to Hanahan police.
