NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The chief of the South Carolina Ports Authority is giving his annual State of the Ports address to business leaders in the Lowcountry and from around the state.
Jim Newsome is the president and chief executive officer of the authority who's speaking at midday Monday in North Charleston. Newsome has said that a growing regional economy and a strong demand for automobiles should help make it a record year on the docks in South Carolina.
Also on Monday, a new report from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina will include updated figures on the impact of the port on the South Carolina economy.
