ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A 24-year-old man was denied bond on Wednesday for a murder that happened in Orangeburg County.
Jeremy Houser is charged with the murder of 56-year-old Anthony Patterson. Houser's uncle, 48-year-old Darrin Houser, also faces the same charge and remains behind bars. Officials with the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office released a statement on Wednesday stating investigators had initially thought the two men were brothers.
Both men were located and taken into custody in Washington D.C.
OCSO investigators say the suspects are accused in Patterson's fatal shooting at a home on Gretta Lane on Aug. 26.
According to the sheriff's office, the brothers were charged after witnesses said Darrin Houser tricked them into allowing him in their Gretta Lane residence around midnight on the night of the incident.
The witnesses reported that once the men were inside, gunfire rang out with at least one shot striking Patterson. Patterson was declared dead at the scene.
Ravenell said the motive for the shooting was robbery.
