ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have charged two men for a shooting in Orangeburg.
Authorities charged 23-year-old Daryn Antoine Gethers with attempted murder. Marlon Adam White, 18, was also charged with accessory after the fact.
Both men's charges stem from a Sept. 5 altercation that sent one man to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
"The victim in this case, a 41-year-old man, gave statements implicating Mr. Gethers in this shooting," Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. "He had been in hiding since the shooting."
"Calling him a 'danger,' a family member of the victim asked the Wednesday afternoon court hearing to deny bond on Gethers," OCSO officials said.
According to authorities, White admitted to having driven Gethers away from the scene immediately after the shooting.
"White's arrest warrant states that after he picked up the shooter, they drove to a home where they got into another vehicle," authorities said."White's bond was set during a hearing last week at $10,000 cash or surety."
Witnesses reported to authorities that the victim and Gethers had been in an argument at an address on Drexel Street.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound as he opened the door on the car said to have been occupied by Gethers, OCSO officials said.
