NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey cut the ribbon on an education to employment center Wednesday morning, called E2E (Education 2 Employment).
US Department of Labor awarded the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce a $1.6 million grant to make the work center possible.
Starting Monday, the center, located on Reynolds Ave., will offer six week pre-employment programs that combine classroom instruction and job training.
It will provide GED classes, paid internships, resume writing and interview skills.
The center is for 16 to 29 year olds who are not in school or working and live in North Charleston.
This center accepts people with criminal records.
A second job center will be located on Remount Road and is currently under development.
Individuals inquiring about Education 2 Employment or wishing to participate can visit the job center, on Reynold Ave., or call 843-202-0909.
