Coroner's Office: No positive ID on human remains found by hunters

The Charleston County Coroner's Office is working to identify human remains discovered by hunters in Awendaw on Friday. 

Officials with the Charleston County Coroner's Office say deputies responded to the area of Whilden Road and Murrell Road at 12:30 p.m. on Friday after hunters discovered what appeared to be human remains. 

"Detectives and the Coroner’s Office responded and confirmed that the remains were human," officials with the coroner's office said. 

Deputy Coroner Brittney Martin said on Saturday no positive identification has been made.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Charleston County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
