Authorities: SC man charged again for impersonating a SLED agent

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WCSC) - A 51-year-old Myrtle Beach man has been charged again for impersonating a SLED agent.

Authorities charged Joseph Michael DePace with impersonating a law enforcement officer, a misdemeanor which carries a penalty upon conviction of up to one year in prison or a fine of up to $500.

DePace was charged for an incident that happened in May where authorities say he conducted a traffic stop and claimed he was a SLED agent.

According to the arrest warrant, DePace used a blue light and siren to pull over a vehicle on Highway 31 in Myrtle Beach.

Authorities say DePace showed the driver of the vehicle a badge and identified himself as a SLED agent.

A report states DePace told the driver that if he saw him "driving that way again he would arrest him."
