BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Governor Nikki Haley warns everyone to stay off waterways because it's not safe. Many rivers have risen to record breaking levels, including the Santee River.
Officials will continue to monitor the river levels throughout the weekend. One man who lived in Jamestown for more than 75 years says he's never seen the Santee River come up so high. They're concern is just how far the water will flow through the woods, potentially reaching people's homes.
A large area under the bridge is normally dry, but now it is flooded along with the parking lot for the boat landing.
Evacuations have slowed down but if anyone in the Jamestown area needs someplace to go there's a Red Cross shelter located at Timberland High School.
