NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A group of Eagle Scouts retired a tattered American flag left behind after a North Charleston restaurant went out of business.
North Charleston Eagle Scout Troop 465 retired the flag outside the former Wong's Asian Bistro Sunday. The flag was retired around 10 a.m. and was given to local veterans for proper disposal.
Eagle Scout member Richard White noticed the flag was left hanging out overnight and during severe weather conditions. White first noticed the flag while working near the area and learned the restaurant closed last spring.
After speaking with the construction crew, he contacted the owner who gave him and the Eagle Scouts permission to properly remove the flag.
White hopes this event will bring attention to the proper display and disposal of our national symbol.
