Upstate company investing $32M in Lowcountry plant

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A Greenville company plans to invest $32 million in a plant in Charleston County, creating more than 200 jobs within the next five years.

Sea Pac LLC plans to export plastic pellets to manufacturers overseas. The pellets are used in everything from paper and china to windshields.

The company plans to build a facility near Ladson on about 110 acres of undeveloped land.

The first phase of the plant is expected to be finished within two years. The company says it chose the location because of access to railroads and the state's ports.
