CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Live 5 News is working with the American Red Cross Wednesday to help flood victims as recovery efforts continue.
A phone bank will take calls between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. to make a donation to the Red Cross and all of the donations will go toward flood relief in South Carolina.
As of Monday, nearly 800 Red Cross workers were providing shelter, food and water and relief supplies, helping to assess the damage and meeting one-on-one with people to help them plan their recovery.
More than 50 emergency response vehicles were helping distribute relief supplies and meals throughout the region.
Since the flooding began, the Red Cross has worked with community partners to serve more than 81,000 meals and snacks, hand out more than 42,000 relief items, and provide more than 2,000 health and mental health services.
More than 300 people spent Sunday night in 15 Red Cross and community shelters in South Carolina.
