NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) -

Palmetto Goodwill presented representatives from Wells Fargo with a donation to the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund in the amount of $36,151.78.

This fund, created by the City of Charleston and managed by Wells Fargo, benefits the various community programs and families who lost loved ones in the Mother Emanuel AME church shooting on June 17, 2015.

The money was raised as a result of a Palmetto Goodwill in-store customer Round Up campaign and through the sale of church cut-outs that ran through the end of August, along with a matching donation from Palmetto Goodwill and their Board of Directors.

“I was extremely touched by the generosity of our shoppers who freely gave their change from purchases to support our Mother Emanuel Hope Fund initiative.” Robert Smith, President of Palmetto Goodwill said. “The show of love in the aftermath of the shooting has been the greatest gift of all and an everlasting reminder of how Reverend Clementa Pinckney and those whose lives were lost lived their lives in the belief that a living, loving God can conquer all”.
