GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - A 17-year-old student at Stratford High School was arrested Thursday after a fight with a fellow student.
The student faces charges of third degree assault and battery third degree, disturbing school and resisting arrest, according to Goose Creek Police Capt. John Grainger.
Police say he engaged in a fight with a 16-year-old in the school cafeteria and also assaulted an assistant principal who attempted to break up the fight.
The school resource officer attempted to take the 17-year-old into custody, but he resisted, Grainger said. The officer used his Taser and eventually handcuffed the student, then took him out of the cafeteria to await medics, he said.
Police say the student attempted to escape while still handcuffs and the officer used his Taser to regain custody.
The student was transported to the Berkeley County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
