COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - The State Department of Health and Environmental Control will offer extended office hours for people who need to get their well water tested for possible contamination from the historic flooding event.
In addition to normal business hours, residents who own private wells can now pick up and drop off sample bottles from 8:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday and Sunday.
DHEC officials said the extended hours will be in place until Nov. 1.
Locations include McClellanville Town Hall, Ridgeville Town Hall, and the Environmental office at 1362 McMillian Ave. in North Charleston.
DHEC employees will never bring sample bottles to your home, or show up unannounced, so officials say anyone who is contacted by someone trying to do that should ask for proper identification and call police.
