BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Multiple accidents slowed the Monday afternoon commute along I-26, causing drive times of more than an hour from downtown to Summerville.
An accident near mile marker 201 in the the westbound lane shut down the right lane shortly before 4 p.m. No injuries were reported in that accident.
A crash near the College Road exit in Ladson closed the westbound lane just two miles further down the road.
Another accident was reported at approximately 5:20 p.m. on I-26 in the eastbound lanes near exits 205A and 205B for University Boulevard. No injuries were reported in that accident.
The Highway Patrol reported a fourth accident with no injuries in the westbound lane near mile marker 110.
A fifth incident was reported at 5:26 p.m. in the eastbound lane near mile marker 216. No injuries were reported in that accident.
A sixth incident was reported at 5:38 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-26 near mile marker 215. Injuries were reported, but the extent of injuries was not known.
At 5:44 p.m., the drive time on I-26 from downtown to Summerville was estimated at 62 minutes. The drive time on I-526 from Mount Pleasant to West Ashley was estimated to be 46 minutes.
By Monday night, the Highway Patrol reported all accidents had been cleared.
