MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - It's hard to get more Southern than a Mac and cheese cook off. The Southern comfort food takes center stage at the annual Charleston Mac Off in Mount Pleasant. You can sample different varieties of mac and cheese during the event Saturday, Oct. 24 at The Grove at Patriots Point.
Whether you eat it as an appetizer, side dish, casserole or even a dessert you will find a favorite or two (or more) thanks to the multiple competitors cooking up their own spin on the classic southern dish. About twenty chefs representing local restaurants will offer up their special recipes for $1 per sample. Last year, 6,000 hungry people gathered for the event last year and helped crown "The Best Mac & Cheese" in Charleston. A panel of local celebrity judges will also choose their favorite for the Food Critics Choice.
In addition to all the macaroni and cheese, the Mac Off also features live music, a vendor village with local artisans and craftsmen and a Kid's Zone for the youngsters.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the event. Food and drink tickets will sold on site for $1 each. Parking at Patriots Point is also $5. For more information and to purchase tickets online, Click Here.
