Three high school students face charges after a school resource officer was tackled at Battery Creek High School.
Local media outlets report one of the students was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia on Tuesday. The others will have to appear in family court.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says that one of the students was suspended on Tuesday but then returned to the school. When the resource officer told the student to leave, the student tackled him.
Deputies say the other students assisted in the assault, one of them grabbing the officer's arms to prevent him from using pepper spray to subdue the students. The officer got free and used the spray.
Deputies say the officer was treated for minor injuries.
