CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Judge J.C. Nicholson denied Dylann Roof's defense attorneys' request to delay the state trial until Fall of 2016.
Instead he assigned another attorney, Teresa L. Norris, to help the two attorneys already assigned to defending Roof.
Ashley Pennington and William McGuire are the court appointed attorneys representing Roof.
The judge has scheduled the death penalty trial to begin on July 11, 2016.
The federal government has not decided if they will seek the death penalty or set a trial date.
Roof is facing both federal and state charges in the shooting deaths of nine people at Mother Emanuel in June.
