CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say a 21-year-old College of Charleston student died following an auto-pedestrian accident.
Officials with the Charleston County Coroner's Office say Christopher Bates of Columbia died on Thursday as a result of head trauma.
According to the coroner's office, the accident happened on Wednesday on Meeting Street between George and Society streets in downtown Charleston.
A police report says a vehicle traveling south on Meeting Street hit the man later identified as Bates after he fell off his bicycle and landed on the roadway.
The report says Charleston Police and their Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating the collision due to the severity of the victim's injuries.
