Authorities identify remains found in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

The coroner has identified the human remains found near the Ravenel Bridge on Friday by the Mount Pleasant Police Department. 

Officials say the identity is 47 year old John Michael Leo of Hanahan. 

Police say he went missing on July 2, 2015. 

The cause of death will be pending for many weeks. 

According to police, the remains were found near a marsh area behind the Motley Rice building. 

"The Coroner’s Office and our Investigations Bureau is on scene continuing to investigate the area," police officials said. 

Emergency officials say they received a call about the remains at 3:47 p.m.
