CPD: Armed robbery suspect arrested after refusing to come out of home

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Charleston Police Department say an armed robbery suspect who refused to come out of a James Island home is now in custody.

On Monday night, officers responded to a home on the 1600 block of Westway Drive.

According to police, officers attempted to serve warrants for armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime on Carl Jerome Jackson III.

Police say Jackson refused to leave the home, and hostage negotiators were called in to talk to him.

Shortly before 9 p.m., police officials say Jackson was taken into custody without incident.

According to police, the warrants were for an armed robbery at the Sally's Beauty Supply on Folly Road that happened on Oct. 20.
