ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Detectives are investigating a homicide at a Holly Hill home.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office was notified on Tuesday morning that a man had been found dead inside his Cranbrook Road residence.
"Relatives of this 37-year-old individual had gone to the home where they discovered him on the floor just inside the doorway," the sheriff said. "It appeared he had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body area."
Ravenell said investigators were notified around 9 a.m. after relatives made the discovery. Investigators learned the man was last seen the previous day.
The sheriff said it appeared the man was shot after having answered the door.
According to authorities, no apparent sign of forced entry was found.
"At this early point in the investigation, investigators are asking that if anyone has any information on the victim or the fatal encounter, they are asked to call the OCSO at 803-534-350 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC," OCSO officials said.
