Police arrest suspect in West Ashley Shooting

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Officials with the Charleston Police Department say they've arrested a man in connection to a shooting in West Ashley last week.

Police believe Antonio Batie shot a man the several times in the chest after a dispute inside a home on the 1000 block of Main Street on Nov. 11.

He surrendered to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force at the City of Charleston police headquarters Tuesday.

Officers say they found the gunshot victim in the front living room of the home that night at 9:30. According to an incident report, he was conscious and could communicate with the officers.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Batie has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. He's being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center with a bond of $175,000.

A representative for the Charleston Police Department says the investigation is ongoing.
